into our products and marketing materials, printing with soy-based inks
and working with vendors who are FSC certified, and a widespread
commitment to recycling efforts, both at home and in our tradeshow
booths. We are also helping to cut back on unnecessary waste by
utilizing the technology of our website and the internet to convey

| LOCAL COMPANY GOES GREEN AT ANAHEIM TRADE SHOW SAUGERTIES, NY: Tim Murray, art director for the local stationery and scrapbooking company
Paper House Productions, understands the importance of a strong
commitment to the environment, especially as a designer in a heavily
paper-based industry. Recently, Tim brought his green
philosophies to sunny Anaheim, California for the scrapbooking
industry's most attended annual tradeshow, the Craft and Hobby
Association's Winter Convention.
According to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, trade shows and
conventions represent the second most wasteful industry in the United
States. In light of this, Tim and his creative genius developed a show
booth that could be entirely reused or recycled at the end of the
convention.
The main focal point of the booth was an 11 foot tall "Paper House" in
the shape of the company's logo, made entirely out of cardboard boxes.
All of the products were displayed on cardboard panels throughout the
booth,
| | and marketing materials and catalogs were printed using
soy-based inks. Pre-show mailings were greatly supplemented by the use
of email technology, and Paper House's own product was used as
promotional giveaways, cutting back on the amount of waste typically
generated by the handout of pens and other useless promotional items.
Along with their commitment to reducing waste within their booth, Paper
House also chose hotel accommodations within walking distance of the
Anaheim Convention Center, lessening their need to use a rental car. And post-show, all recycling efforts were personally
overseen by members of the art department.
Back at home, Paper House is investigating the printing of not only
marketing materials but many of their products on recycled papers from
sustainable, managed forests. And after just returning from California,
Tim is diving back in and is already planning the design of his next
eco-friendly booth! It is the hope of Tim and of all the talented
people at Paper House that, even within the paper industry, more
companies can find a way to minimize their environmental impact and
think of creatively green solutions!
